The Blue Ridge Chinese Brush shop was built mainly for paid participants or alumni of my classes; however, it is now open to the public and set to be able to ship most items except a few bulky ones as of August 21, 2026.  

If you are an in-person student of mine, you would normally select pick-up so that you can save shipping and receive your items on the day of the next class.  Please place class supply orders at least three days before class if you can. I highly recommend that you buy or rent the new brushes before class so that you can learn how to use them instead of just watch me use them.   On class day, you receive your bag of pre-paid supplies.  When it says pickup it means pickup on class day, not at my house.   If you have not prepaid, it will take more time for everyone to get started.   

Some new people do get confused about rentals, causing interruption in the middle of class to handle cash, so I have a new approach to make it easier.  If you choose to rent the I'm New Kit, the rental now includes the featured brush rental, and that is $10 with tax included for renters.  (Tax is included on rentals only).    

If you buy the I'm New Kit, be aware that you will probably want to rent the featured brush.    This may be confusing, but since the materials fee is set at $15 I cannot include the rentals also in that $15.  Rentals are not all that popular as many people want to own the starter kit.  In 2027, the rental and purchase of the I'm New Kit will include the featured brush of the class.  

You'll be able to purchase items after class in person, such as the new brushes I modelled that day, using Square contactless, check or cash, but I do not carry cash to make change.   I bring a mini shop of things with me for sale--not the entire store--but definitely the new brushes of the day, some paints, journey folders, loose paper, some ink samples, brush rolls and my favorite four-well brush washers.  

If you decide to get rental I'm New kits or the featured brush rental, you will get coupons for the same amount - so that you can forward that to a purchase.  The coupons are valid for 60 days.  

Of course, I love it when you buy everything instead of renting it, but if you are nervous, rental can be a good option because it gives you a fuller experience without the commitment.   

Please know that my products are guaranteed.  If for some reason a brush falls apart or paint goes bad or moldy, please tell me and you will get a replacement as soon as possible (and you won't have to wait for the next class either).  I definitely want to know if a product I carry is not working well.  I am continually looking for affordable products which are high quality as well.  Please note the brush care page, and avoid extremes of temperature with products.  Don't leave them in the car in summer and winter etc.  Products should last for at least two years under normal conditions.
