We'll be using two new brushes for this class in addition to the brushes used so far i the class which are also very useful for leaves, and even petals.
The Long White Goat Brush - A firm baiyun brush, not too soft, with soft and firm white goat fibers. Can be use sideways for bone strokes, beautiful flowers with ruffled edges such as poppies, peonies, a tank for radiating petals and soft leaves for chrysanthemums, round petals, dots, larger insect bodies, water ripples, tree trunks, landscape washes, a firm and responsive brush with soft and firm fibers, calligraphic.
White goat, 1.9 inch long x .39 inch wide.
A $13-27 retail value. My student price: $8
The Jointed Bamboo Brush - This dark brown, jointed bamboo brush is for the most delicate details, such as very thin insect legs, ants, and spikey flower filaments, sharp micro-details, even the cells of a insect wing. It can also do beautiful chrysanthemums and wood asters, and orchid and lily flowers with twisting tips, and tendrils. This is an excellent brush for writing your name or chop very small. This one is made of rabbit fur. I have two other brushes I am testing to make my final decision, and one has not arrived yet. I love how the joints in the bamboo remind you of the joints for insect legs. It helps when you haven't used a brush in a while to remember what it is really wonderful for.
Retail value $12-17 for brushes in the detail family. My student price: $10.
