For your class you will need the following supplies:
An empty blossom palette about six-eight inches across with deeper wells.
A saucer or plate (mostly white) or rectangular or square mixing area for blending and tipping. It does not have to have wells. If the center area of your blossom palette is at least four inches wide, it can be used for this purpose. You can always simply bring a white plastic plate.
An ink fishtail dish or three ink saucers or clean jar lids, or a sloped inkwell (does not have to be stone as we use bottled ink)
A brush washer with four wells or four separate containers about 8 oz each.
Several paper towels or a dishcloth or piece of flannel that size for dabbing off brushes.
Calligraphy felt to go under your papers. The largest paper we will be using in class is 13.5 inches square. You can substitute a piece of flannel or a pillowcase.
A brush rest or found object with notches so the loaded brushes won't touch. If your ink dish has a fishtail or notches in the lid, those are brushrests.
Chinese brushes. I would recommend ordering brushes from me, as I have enough for everyone in the class, even if you sign up late. Those closest set although not identical, is that of Nan Rae. OAS is also a well-respected brand. My brushes are cheaper and sourced by me from China. My brushes do not have my brand name on them.
A bamboo brush roll. A 36 cm high with 8-9 slots is best, although a 30 cm high one fits. Once you toss the disposable cap and rinse your brushes, they need to be stored in a bamboo brush roll. The cap is not put back on but save them for pencil protectors for your other hobbies.
Bring a pen or pencil for notes, as you may not be comfortable at first writing with the small spotted weasel.
See below for sources for supplies, either through me or on Amazon.
After you register, complete the google form below. It has photo and description of the brushes and measurements of the tip, as well as other supplies on that list needed for class, such as felt and travel palettes, and alternatives to those, so you will have no doubt about what is needed to be prepared, plus you'll be able to get some supplies from me if you wish.
You don't have to bring ink, paper, or watercolor to class; I provide them for use in class so that we are working with the same colors.
To help you practice at home, I put links for the paper, ink and watercolor we used in class on an annotated Amazon list link that is on the google form. Small and full size sets of Marie's Chinese Watercolor are on there. You can also use other watercolors at home. The masters often use a mix of Western watercolors for the transparents and Chinese chips or pigments in jars for the other colors. These are really nice, but let's start with the simplest items.
Here you will find products I have sourced to save you money and bought in bulk. Order these from me by email, or use my google form which shows pictures of the different items, and submit the form. I will have these ready for you on class day, and I will send you a total, just bring a check to class. If I cannot get you an item in time, I will send you to the link at the center for Amazon Last Minute Supplies.
Here is a class supply list of full-price supplies if you sign up too late to get them from me, or perhaps you see something you like here better.
Find out more about the BRCB Brushes. BRCB Brushes are always in stock for the full capacity of the class. I currently have in stock the brushes for the first two classes. The above photo shows the brushes for the class from the top to the bottom. There are two brushes offered each class. Each class I will increase by two new brushes, so in the second class for example, I will be using all four brushes at the top half. And so on.
The floral bamboo brush roll is not included. You can find it at my BRCB Shop, and you can find other beautiful brush rolls on Amazon Last Minute List too.
